Handgun 100 is a free, two-hour course for new handgun owners who want to feel safe and comfortable visiting the range independently. Using your own handgun, you’ll learn essential firearm safety, range procedures, and how to safely load, fire, unload, demonstrate clear, and case your firearm.
What to Expect: Brief classroom instruction followed by coached practice and live fire. No previous shooting experience is required, and this is not a scored test or qualification. Students must follow all instructor and range-safety directions.
What to Bring:
- Valid Connecticut pistol permit
- One unloaded handgun secured in a case, bag, or manufacturer’s box
- 100 rounds of the correct ammunition
- At least one functional magazine, if applicable
- Eye and hearing protection
- Closed-toe shoes and appropriate range clothing
Keep your handgun unloaded and cased until an instructor directs you to remove it at the shooting bench. Ammunition and protective equipment are available for purchase onsite.
